FOUR JOIN BOARD OF SAFE-BIOPHARMA ASSOCIATION

Ft. Lee, N.J. (October 28, 2008) – GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: GSK), Merck (NYSE:MRK), Pfizer (NYSE: PFE), and Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) have named new representatives to the Board of Directors of SAFE BioPharma Association, the non-profit association that created and manages the SAFE-BioPharma™ digital identity and signature standard for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

“We welcome the new members of the board and look forward to their active participation in providing governance and major decision-making,” said Gary Secrest, Chairman, SAFE-BioPharma Association.

The new members of the board follow:
William Barnes, Director, Identity Services, Pfizer, Inc.
Richard Eddershaw, Director, Global Regulatory Informatics, Global Regulatory Operations, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals.
Terence Rice, Senior Director, Information Security and Networks, Merck & Co. Inc.
Marilyn Teal, Pharm D., Director/Section Head, Clinical Operations, Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals.
Each new appointee replaces a representative from the respective member company.
