HOW GOVERNMENT, INDUSTRY ARE CONTROLLING IDENTITY MANAGEMENT IS SUBJECT OF APRIL 28 NATIONAL PRESS CLUB CONFERENCE Washington, D.C. (April 6, 2009) -- How federal agencies, higher education and the aerospace and defense, and pharmaceutical and healthcare industries are using the 4BFinfrastructure (www.the4BF.com) to control identity management issues will be discussed April 28 during a two-hour seminar at the National Press Club. The free seminar -- for agency, industry and education program managers and application owners -- is being organized by the 4BF, a new coalition of the nation’s leading federated identity trust hubs. Use of the 4BF ensures the integrity of online transactions, reduces identity misrepresentation, and lowers costs associated with identity management. Keynote speaker, Peter Alterman, Ph.D., Deputy Associate Administrator for Technology Strategy, Office of Government-wide Policy, GSA, will discuss the 4BF and ways it is being used by major federal agencies for secure electronic business using the Internet. Other presentations by representatives from aerospace and defense, pharmaceuticals and healthcare and higher education will explain how they are using the 4BF to validate, trust, and manage identities in secure Internet transactions. Over the past decade, numerous identity trust hubs (also known as “Public Key Infrastructure Certification Authority Bridges” or “Certification Bridges”) have evolved to assure the identities of those using the Internet for sensitive and confidential transactions. Trust hubs are identity federations combining technology and rules to create trusted cyber-communities. Each trust hub asserts the identity of participants across the entire federation. The workshop is free but limited to fifty registered attendees. The National Press Club is located in Washington, D.C.
