SAFE-BIOPHARMA NAMES GARY C. WILSON TO NEW BIOPHARMA INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION POST FT. LEE, N.J. (March 18, 2009) – Gary C. Wilson has been named Technical Program Manager for SAFE-BioPharma Association (www.safe-biopharma.org), the non-profit association that created and manages the SAFE-BioPharma™ digital identity and digital signature standard for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. In the newly created position, Mr. Wilson’s primary responsibility is to help prospective and existing association members plan and implement digital identity and signature projects using the SAFE-BioPharma digital standard. He also will be involved in managing a variety of SAFE-BioPharma Association services and procedures. “The biopharmaceutical industry is rapidly adopting the SAFE-BioPharma digital standard. Gary Wilson’s extensive identity management and security experience will help companies apply the standard to their operations in a variety of cost and time saving ways,” said Mollie Shields-Uehling, president and CEO, SAFE-BioPharma Association. The biopharmaceutical industry developed the SAFE-BioPharma digital identity and signature standard to mitigate legal, regulatory and other business risk associated with electronic transactions. The standard provides users with a secure, enforceable, and regulatory compliant way to verify identities of parties involved in electronic transactions and to apply their digital signatures to electronic documents. By using SAFE-BioPharma digital signatures companies are able to dispense with paper originals and other cumbersome forms of back up. Mr. Wilson has extensive IT project management experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. For almost 15 years, he held several information management positions in the Ortho-McNeil unit of Johnson & Johnson specializing in public key infrastructure (PKI) security deployment, SOX compliance, quality assurance and validation. Most recently, he was project manager and validation consultant for EMC Consulting Services and for Omicron Consulting.
